My Favorite Childhood Book
My first chapter book and I still love it! I've been an animal lover from the very beginning, and I think the whole farm scene really held my interest. I remember being fascinated by the description of "slop". It was somehow beautiful! And of course the story of friendship is unbeatable. To see that someone so small could care so much, and really make such a huge difference in someone's life was amazing to me.
And I cried at the end! My first 'book induced cry'! No wonder I'm so fond of it!
...I better go read it again...

We did this as a read aloud a few years ago and we love it too! :)
I have always loved the Garth Williams illustrations of Charlotte's Web.
(Just visiting from WW.)
Have always loved this book. I can't wait till my daughter is old enough to enjoy it herself!
I loved this book too...along with the Secret Garden. They seemed to go well with eachother for some reason. :)
I remember when one of my teachers read this aloud to our class. Loved it so much at the time, have read it many times since and still love it!
The first book I remember crying while reading was called a Taste of Blackberries. A little boy died and I totally didn't see it coming. I'll never forget that one.
Hee hee! That's so sweet! My first book-induced cry was "Good-bye, Pink Pig" I think I need to go back and figure out what was so emotional in that book! :)
This is definitely a wonderful classic. Surprisingly we haven't done this one yet as a read aloud.
