Looks good right?! Well it was!
So we have been watching the show "Man V. Food" lately. Probably not the best show for a large pregnant woman to watch - I want to eat everything! Not in the mammoth sized portions on the show though. However, it has been fun to get ideas of 'creations' we can try at home. For instance, this pie...
I think it was called "Peanut Butter Cream Pie", and here's how they made it.
Start with a regular, pre-baked, pie shell. Sprinkle the bottom with a layer of peanut butter and powder sugar crumbles, pour in your vanilla cream pie filling, and sprinkle on another layer of P.B. crumbs. Top the whole thing with whipped cream and garnish with some more crumbles. Viola!
It looked so easy and simply yummy that I couldn't get it off my mind! I'm sure it doesn't taste much like the original, but I think it's a keeper for my book!
I didn't want to make a "real" pie crust, so I made a graham cracker crust (because more sugar is always appreciated :). Then I had fun mixing peanut butter and powdered sugar until I had what I considered to be the right texture. I have no idea how to explain it - course, crumbly, soft, light, delicious...
For the filling I would have been tempted to just use a boxed pie cream mix, but we didn't have any! So I followed a simple pie cream recipe that was meant to have bananas in it.
Since the filling itself doesn't have any peanut butter in it I wondered if this pie would give me the P.B. "fix" that I love. 'Wonder' no more! The peanut butter crumbs really stand out and with the cream on top the whole thing is beautiful! It sings to me! And so I blog about it. :)

If I can eat 1/4 of the pie for breakfast. I guess it's one for the family cook book ;)
