All Is Well

As the title suggests we are doing quite well. This year seems like it's in a hurry to be over and I'm feeling pressure to be ready for 2009. I'm not even ready for Christmas!
John is still working the night shift at Target and sometimes doesn't get home until 5 a.m. or later. When he finally gets to sleep is when baby and I wake up. We try to be quiet for the first half of the day, how are we doing Dad? After the New Year his schedule will change to early mornings (getting up at 3 a.m. ugh!). We feel hopeful that Target will keep him on after the Holidays, he's such a good worker!
Little John just keeps on growing! We've been trying different foods lately, letting him get used to chunkier textures. Bread, cottage cheese, and tonight his first macaroni and cheese! He hasn't actually eaten much of these things. Having the little chunks in his mouth spikes the gag reflex and he pushes most of it out. He tries anything though and I think he's getting used to it, kind of.
He recently had a cold, plus was teething again (more bottom teeth!) so those were some not fun days. It has really made me realize and appreciate what a happy baby he is! He has been smiling and laughing quite a bit lately. When he watches his Baby Einstein movies he laughs or squeals or does his little seated scoot dance at his favorite parts. So cute! His dad and I are totally smitten.
We have been excited for him to start crawling but he shows no sign or desire to do that yet. Each to his own I suppose. I feel like he will surprise us one day by just deciding to do it and then doing it! He is a VERY determined little baby.
This past week I made a list of things that need to be done or that I would like to do. That's about as far as I got. I think I need to shorten the list so I feel like I have a fighting chance! I have realized though that I do need to find something I enjoy doing, that will help me redevelop my personal identity. I love my baby, he really is my buddy. When he takes naps I sometimes find myself roaming around, looking for an activity, waiting for him to wake up. John will play with him for awhile so I can have a break and I wonder what to do with myself! I like to read, but I never know what books are good, or I feel pressured by the library time limits so I subconsciously give up. Horse riding is not an option, although I secretly long for it! I'll keep searching. If anyone has a good book suggestion, or an idea for a hobby that requires no money let me know!
Anyway, it's all good with us, and we hope the same for you!

I think that your little boy is adorable. He has the best smile ever. I know what you're going through though since Dirk was a very late walker. All babies will do things in their time. :)

I'll have to think of some cheap activities. Usually we go to the library. Netflix has been an obsession of mine.
